BCMA & HTA invites cultural & heritage tourism institution operators to register (FREE!) & participate in the Time Travel BC Project's "Online Marketing" workshop, at the City of Quesnel Council Chambers, 410 Kinchant Street, Quesnel, BC on Friday, February 3, 2012.
The goal of the three workshop series is to give cultural heritage tourism
operators the best in online strategies to increase visitors.

BCMA holds special 1-day Conference 2011, AGM & 2011 Awards Luncheon & Presentation @ MOV, December 9th
The Museum of Vancouver stepped up to host a special edition of BCMA's
annual provincial Conference for 2011 on Friday, December 9, 2011.
The 1-day program included the Annual General
Meeting; the unveiling of the TimeTravelBC.com
heritage tourism website & sneak preview of the new
mobile app (See below); 2011 Museums in Motion
Awards Luncheon & Presentation Ceremony,
including the Golden Anniversary Service Awards;
and the "Making Museums Matter to Municipalities"
plenary, with special guest panelists.
Pauline Rafferty, CEO, Royal BC Museum, graciously agreed to join the program and address the almost 80 participants as the special guest speaker for the Awards Luncheon.

Annual General Meeting 2011:
"Owl" Makes a Long-Awaited & Mysterious Return...
BCMA's well-travelled mascot, "Owl" (above) magically reappeared to preside once again over this year's AGM, as BCMA tradition dictates. Owl, often the subject of extended "personally guided tours" (read: Owl-nappings) to wide-ranging North American destinations, was last seen in Richmond at Conference 2007--BCMA's 50th Anniversary celebration...You can read about his journey & "re-discovery" in the upcoming Winter 2012 issue of Roundup...

"Time Travel BC" Launch & Presentation:
Official TimeTravelBC.com & iPhone App Launched

BCMA, together with our Heritage Tourism Alliance partners, officially launched TimeTravelBC.com, an "aggregator" website developed to help BC's cultural heritage institutions to better engage with more potential visitors. The presentation, (Click this image for a 5-minute Launch highlights video), staged in the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre Auditorium, also included sample HD video content, interactive Calendar of Events, trip-planning tools & a sneak preview of the brand new iPhone App, (See below)...

(left), were presented at a special, soldout Awards
Luncheon on Friday, December 9, 2011 as part of
Conference 2011 at the Museum of Vancouver.
2011 Recipients will be featured in the upcoming
Winter 2012 issue of Roundup.

10 museums & galleries respond to BCMA's annual Call for CCI Regional Workshop Hosts in 2012-13
Ten member institutions have now applied to host a 1 or 2-day BCMA Regional Workshop featuring topics offered by the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI).
BCMA will now select a first & second choice to in turn apply to CCI for a
sponsored workshop between April 2012 & March 2013.
