The BCMA is honoured to host internationally acclaimed anthropologist, author, and explorer Wade Davis as the keynote AGM speaker and thematic inspiration for this year’s regional workshops. The theme is the museum’s role in exploring the people and places that make the sacred landscapes and cultural geography of Northern BC so unique.

Conference 2012 a huge success!
148 participants, as Kamloops shines as Host
BCMA's 56th annual provincial Conference 2012: "Rendezvous - All
Together Now" drew 148 participants who took advantage of 4 Pre-Conference
Workshops & 21 sessions--despite government travel restrictions; were inspired
by keynote Jack Lohman, CEO of RBCM; guest speaker Manny Jules, Elder &
Culture Mentor, Tk'emlups Indian Band; The Honourable Minister Bill Bennett,
Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development; were roused & engaged
by the two-part plenary "Your BCMA--The Way Forward"; met new Trade Show
exhibitors; indulged in LOUD networking at the opening Welcome & BC Reports
receptions; celebrated this year's Museums in Motion Award & Golden
Anniversary Service Award recipients; & wound-up Conference with a tour of
Secwepemc Museum & Heritage Park, an awe-inspiring performance by the
Sage Hills Dancers & Drummers, and feasted on a locally-caught salmon lunch.
The BCMA wishes to extend our sincere appreciation to our Host & Program
Committees, the City of Kamloops--as part of its bicentennial celebrations--and
host members: Kamloops Museum & Archives, Kamloops Art Gallery and the
Secwepemc Museum & Heritage Park.

"Time Travel BC Project" was one of 15 successful initiatives from a record 128
applications under the Foundation's Cultural and Creative Arts grants program.

BCMA, together with our Heritage Tourism Alliance partners, officially launched TimeTravelBC.com,
an aggregator website developed to help BC's cultural heritage institutions to better engage with more potential visitors. The presentation, (Click this image for a 5-minute Launch highlights video), staged in the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre Auditorium, also included sample HD video content, interactive Calendar of Events, trip-planning tools & a sneak preview of the brand new iPhone App, (See below)...
